How to Eat to Lose Weight

Most folks think it's how much they eat that causes weight gain. How much is important, but it's not nearly as important as what you eat and especially how you eat. Just by making sure you're eating nutritious meals you can easily slim down to a healthy weight by changing how you eat. Want to know how to do this? Read on.

In a way, you're digestive system's like a furnace for a house. If you want your house to be comfortable, you set the thermostat on a comfortable temperature and then leave it there. Oh, you might change the setting at night when you're asleep, or during the day when you're at work, but in general you leave the thermostat at one setting.

Contrast how we generally heat our houses with another option. Here's what most folks don't do. We don't turn off the furnace for hours at a time, then when we just can't stand being so incredibly cold, we turn it back on and run the thermostat up as high as it can go so that the house warms up as fast as possible.

So, going back to the digestive system/house furnace analogy, if you wouldn't do this to your house furnace, why in the world do you do this to your body?

But yet, that's what millions of people do. They get up and skip breakfast. (Note: it's been approximately ten hours since you last ate (turned the furnace on).) Then they eat a large lunch, nothing for another six hours or so, then go home pig out on a huge dinner complete with ice cream for desert, then go to bed stuff, exhausted, and generally feeling like they were run over by a truck.

No wonder we're all overweight! We don't know how to eat.

How long do you think your house's furnace would last if you turned it on and off like in the above example? How long are you going to last if you stuff yourself, then wait hours and hours before you fuel your body again?

Surely, if you treated your body at least as well as you treat your house's furnace, you would have better results. And, guess what? You're absolutely right.

You want to stoke the fire of your digestive system in regular intervals starting with breakfast. A snack in mid-morning, then a light lunch followed by a mid-afternoon snack and a light dinner is the ticket.

You'll actually probably be consuming about as many calories this way as you did before. But since you're spreading out your eating, your body will be able to use the food you put into it without storing it as fat.

Sound too simple? Well, it is simple. It's also how our caveman ancestors ate. Try this for only two weeks and you will be almost guaranteed startling results.
